Where there's a Will...
Unhappy Carmella Cammeniti makes the difficult decision to dump her boyfriend, Will Griggs, this week, believing he's unable to accept her facial disfigurement she recently suffered. But despite Carmella's insecurity, Will is more besotted than ever - so could there be a happy ending for the pair after all?
"Carmella has been scarred since her unstable cousin, Teresa, threw boiling water in her face," explains Natalie Blair, who plays the former nun. "She's now convinced herself that what happened was a punishment from God for her past sins, so she doesn't feel she deserves Will's love. She also assumes that he's repulsed by her appearance - an idea Harold inadvertently put in her mind."
Following her rejection of corrective surgery, Carmella believes it's only a matter of time before Will gives her the elbow - so she decides to get in first...
"She's all set to break it off when she bumps into Paul in Scarlet Bar," Natalie reveals. "He gets stuck into her about her refusal to fix the scar, and accuses her of simply being a martyr. That really gets Carmella thinking, especially when Paul points out that he's give anything for a second chance like that - referring to the fact he wears an artificial leg. Carmella then starts to realise that he maybe it's not God's will at all. Perhaps she's just punishing herself."
When Will finally convinces Carmella that he'll love her whether she undergoes the surgery or not, she begins to see her future in a more positive light.
"It's all thanks to him that Carmella realises she owes it to herself to have the operation," shares Natalie. "It's a big turning point in their realationship, and from that moment on, she's done with self-pity."
Even so, Carmella continues to harbour the explosive secret that she arranged the sale of Teresa's newborn baby - which is why the girl became unhinged in the first place. With such a huge skeleton hidden away in a closet, can Carmella truly expect to find such happiness with Will?
"The truth is that Carmella and Will are both keeping things from one another," sighs Natalie. "That isn't a good basis for any realationship..."
