Grave concern
Sky fails to find guidance from her late mum after Kerry's tragic diagnosis...
Dylan Timmins has been feeling left out in the cold as ex-love Sky Mangel looks after their daughter, Kerry, with boyfriend Stingray. But the young dad has to set aside his emotions and put ona united front this week, as the trio are forced to come to terms with the heartbreaking revelation that Kerry has leukaemia...
"The tension between Dylan. Stingray and Sky has been bubbling under for months, but it's coming to boil now," says Damien Bodie, who plays Dylan. "And poor Kerry's stuck in the middle of it all."
During an outing to a racetrack, Dylan struggles to keep a lid on his frustrations.
"He wants to have a 50 per cent say in Kerry's upbringing, but his brother keeps stepping on his toes," explains Damien. "Driving a rally car gives Dylan the chance to let off some steam, but he's really reckless and almost runs Stingray down."
Wgile Janelle tries to play peacemaker between her squabbling sons, Sky notices that Kerry's looking off-colour, so takes her to the hospital - where some tests soon prove that the tot's condition is serious.
"The doctors carry out a blood test and suspect she may have leukaemia - which obviously comes as a complete shock to everyone," Damien sighs. "But they can't be sure, so Kerry has to have a bone-marrow biopsy. Suddenly, any ill feeling between Sky, Dylan and Stingray is forgotten as they await the results."
Devastated, each of them copes in their own way. While Dylan tries to be strong, Sky visits late mum Kerry's memorial with her grandad, Harold, praying for some sort of guidance. But when she sees the surname 'Timmins' on her mother's plaque in a startling premontion , the worried mum can't help but fear the worst.
"Kerry's biopsy confirms that she does have the disease," shares Damien. "Now, Dylan, Stingray and Sky have no choice but to stick together. It's a huge blowto the Timmins family, and to Sky and Harold, of course. From now on, nothing else matters - it's all about saving Kerry's life. Everybody agrees that they must do whatever it takes."
It's no secret that both Damien and Ben Nicholas (Stingray) will soon be disappearing from British screens, as the pair's final scenes in Neighbours recently aired in Australia. And Damien reveals that this week's tragic news is the first in a series of dramatic events which lead to their characters' departures.
"The producer's sat Ben and I down and informed us what was going to happen - all the way from Kerry's illness to the very end," he shares. "And I can tell you there are a lot of twists and turns to come..."
