Innocent Sky Goes To Jail
Sky is accused of murder, but it was Charlotte who killed psychic Terrence
She’s been through so much over the past 12 months, but Sky’s nightmare year is about to get a whole lot worse. Framed for the murder of phoney psychic Terrence (Scott Johnson), a horrified Sky (Stephanie McIntosh) is taken into custody, leaving her grandfather Harold (Ian Smith) to care for her baby daughter, Kerry. The young mother still can’t recall what actually happened during her last traumatic meeting with Terrence. But if her memory hadn’t deserted her, Sky would know that, while she did lash out at the con man, she didn’t kill him. Terrence’s evil lover, Charlotte (Rachel Gordon) delivered the deadly blow shortly after Sky left the General Store that fateful night. Naturally, Charlotte – who is posing as an Erinsborough doctor – is delighted when the finger is pointed at Sky.
Earlier, terrified that she will be charged with murder and separated from her baby. Sky decides to do a runner from Ramsay Street. “Sky is in a state of complete confusion and denial,” Stephanie says. “She doesn’t trust herself and has just had a blank about what happened. She can’t imagine doing anything like this – she’s in utter shock.” Sky soon realises she has nowhere to hide and returns home with her daughter to face the authorities. “She does what she thinks is the right thing in the end,” Steph says. “She’s honest about the situation.”
Charged with Terrence’s murder, Sky is taken away to the local remand centre. There the young mum is in for another shock when Rosie (Natalie Saleeba) tells her that Terrence was hit twice. There’s no possibility that Sky can plead self defence now. Forced to come to terms with the reality of life behind bars, Sky begins to lose hope. And as if things weren’t bad enough, Sky receives a new cellmate – deeply unhinged Mary (Rowena Wallace)! Sky has no idea that Mary is Pepper’s stalker and the inmates quickly form a close bond. “Sky comes to lean on Mary for support,” Steph reveals. Keep watching!
Recycled Prison
Steph McIntosh tells us the prison scenes were filmed in a specially constructed jail adjacent to the regular Neighbours sets, which include the General Store and Scarlet Bar. “It really did look like a jail cell,” Steph says. “All the exterior jail scenes were done outside and around the studio building. Actually, we may have even used the outside of some of the old Prisoner sets!”
