Neighbours at War! There's a bidding war erupting between three British channels for the rights to screen Neighbours, as the BBC's contract to air the soap come up for renewal. Five- on which Home and Away is broadcast - has already expressed an intrest, and now ITV has reportedly entered the race, with bosses thought to be prepared to shell out up to four times what the BBC pays per episode to show Neighbours. "We have made a good offer, but if a deal cannot be reached in the very near future, we will withdraw" explains BBC's director of acquisitions, George McGhee. "I'm sure ITV would like to have Neighbours but would that be best for the show?" With negotiations under way, fand should know soon if they'll have to grab the remote and change channel to keep up with Ramsay Street action! Inside Soap 5-11 May 2007 Page 13
