Susan tells Karl the truth about Izzy's baby...
Second-time newly-weds Karl and Susan Kennedy return to Australia this week, following their romantic break in the UK. But Susan continues to keep from Karl the fact that Izzy's baby girl, Holly - whp was born at the Kennedys' wedding in London - is really his daughter. And with the new mum and her little girl halfway across the globe, it seems she's prepared to take the secret to her grave. That is, until a shock piece of news changes everything...
"As soon as Susan and Karl arrive home, they find out about Stingray's death," explains Alan Fletcher, who plays Karl. "They're both especially sad that they missed the funeral, and as is often the case with a death, Susan is suddenly forced to re-evaluate things - Izzy and Karl's newborn baby included."
While Izzy seems content to remain in London and raise Holly alone, Susan struggles with her conscience after a chat with grieving mum Janelle.
"Janelle gives Susan some advice," Alan reveals. "She says the devastation of losing a child is bad enough, but to lose one that you never knew existed would be even worse. So Susan decides that honesty is the best policy.
"She waits until Rachel and Zeke aren't in the house, and then just tells Karl straight out - he's Holly's dad," adds the actor. "Obviously he's stunned and very angry, and insists that he should have been told at the time. He has no idea what he should do next."
So, is there any possibility that Karl will turn his back on Susan, and choose to focus his energy on Izzy and Holly?
"I'm not saying!" teases Alan. "But personally, I'd like Karl and Susan to stay together. Susan is Karl's rock, he's lost without her. He cant function when she's not around, which was evident when he hooked up with Izzy - look how that turned out!"
