Series - A very Trouser Wedding

Sorry I felt the desperate need to write a gushy fic I just watched a horror movie (The Grudge 2) And I think a little bit of mush is in order to get me to be in the mood to sleep! lol.

Chapter One

Harold opened his front door and was greeted by his great grand-daughter Kerry "my haven't you grown big!" Harold exclaimed as he picked her up with some difficulty, she was 2 now and quite heavy. Harold put her down as she ran into the house happily, she was the image of Dylan she had long black hair and was tall for her age. Harold smiled as he saw Sky coming up the driveway she was 7 months pregnant and looked radiant "hi granddad!" she came up the driveway quickly and threw her arms around him "you look wonderful you haven't changed a bit" Harold smiled at her "well you have just a little" he rubbed her belly "I last saw you 6 months ago and boy how you have grown" Sky looked behind her to see Dylan struggling up the path with a load of bags, he reached the doorway "alright Hazza" he waved at him to out of breath to speak. Harold shook his hand "Dylan its good to see you" sky laughed at him "well you wouldn't let me carry any" Dylan shot her a 'oh how funny' glance before pulling the remainder of the luggage inside

"so granddad what time is the wedding at?" Sky managed sitting her huge weight onto the sofa. "a quarter past one" Dylan sat down clearly exhausted "oh babe...no you have to hang up my dress or it will crease" Dylan stood up again and went to hang Sky's dress up. Sky giggled as she watched him struggle to his feet again. "I cant believe Toadie and Steph are getting married, how bizarre, how conformist of them" Harold laughed at her comment and held Sky's hand "I think its wonderful I love a jolly old wedding" Sky Leaned back on the sofa, she missed this place so much. Harold stood up "tea" Sky nodded enthusiastically and placed a pillow behind her back. Harold continued speaking from the kitchen "so how is Sydney treating you" Sky exhaled "its hot...but its hot everywhere when I'm pregnant, its really busy too, I found it really hard to sleep at first...being so close to the traffic, cul-de-sac syndrome" Dylan came back and sat down "cul-de-whatta....ahh another Sky word, noted" he gave her a big toothy grin. "well Kerry is used to it she has really taken to the school, thats all that matters". Dylan stood up to give Sky more pillows, but Sky used one to batter him away with "your fussing fussing again!" Dylan sat down unhinged "hormones hormones again!" Harold came back in time to witness the little charade and laughed "at least you can eat this time" Sky gave him a knowing glance and Dylan laughed "don't I know it, its in five minutes and its eaten not that I'm complaining" Sky threw another pillow at him. Sky gladly excepted her tea and shifted her weight to stick it on the coffee table "so granddad what do you have planned until tomorrow?" Kerry came rushing over and jumped on Dylan who gave out a wheeze as he grabbed his stomach "aha" Kerry giggled at him and hung off his hair. Harold chuckled as he winked at Kerry "oh nothing, spending time with my lovely family I suppose" Sky Leaned forward "granddad lets go to the park! Its a lovely day and I'm pregnant I cant stay cooped up all day, I spent half the morning in a car already, with no air conditioning and a two year old who wanted to sing along to her CD all the way!" Harold shot her a sympathetic glance before smiling "we've all been through it"

Chapter Two

Sky fell back onto her double bed in her old room and sighed as Dylan walked in "weird isn't it, being back here, stepping into this room...it feels like I have opened a flood gate" Dylan sat down next to her "its not just your hormones, it is getting to me too, I haven't been back here in years remembers, couldn't face coming back with you....it is still painful, seems easier to move away and keep on going rather than to look back” Sky brushed the hair out of his eyes "I know what you mean...it gets easier, and we have each other, all I need is you, you helped me through losing half my family and now your with me to help me with this" Dylan smiled as he picked up the framed photograph of Scotty and himself on Sky’s bedside table "time goes so fast, I cant believe its been" Sky put a finger on his lips "don’t, not here" Dylan nodded "I want to go see my old room, feels weird having tenants living in it, its the only place I've ever truly been able to call home" Sky rubbed his hand "I know, we should go to Lassiters lake with granddad and have a nice family day out...not dwell on the past" Dylan stood up "yeah but its hard ...being married to you and having children when this place holds so many memories of... well us stuffing up and...Scotty" Sky came over to him and hugged him "remember the good ones ....you posing nude for arts sake” Dylan rolled his eyes "I cant believe you still make me do that" Sky laughed "well its for a portfolio....I want my own studio Dyl and well I know every contour of you" Dylan laughed as Sky went all sensual "back off...he poked her belly lightly" that’s were that got us. She laughed and they walked arm in arm back into the lounge area were Harold was sat with Kerry.

Steph fiddles with her hair in the mirror Charlie came walking in "hello mummy, you look beeeaautiiiffuul" he hugged her and Steph smiled "aww thank you sweetheart". "Uncle Toadie is here. in der" he pointed towards the lounge "he isn't supposed to be, what is wrong!" she walked cautiously into the living room. Toadie stood awkwardly "Summer is here and err...max" Steph nodded "we knew we had to deal with this, let’s do it together" Max and Summer pulled up outside and knocked on the door. Toadie and Steph opened the door putting on a united front. Max stepped in and Summer hugged Steph "congratulations, I'm just dropping Summer off, it was nice to spend the weekend together wasn't it Sum" She smiled "oh yeah, it was so cool we went onto his oil rig! And some of the crew were bungee jumping off the sides!!" Steph frowned "is she allowed on board?” Max shrugged "she stayed in my quarters and the crew adored her" Steph smiled as summer hugged Toadie "so where is my dress, better make sure it fits!" Summer bounced. Steph felt uncomfortable, it was awkward enough her step daughter being a bridesmaid to her new husband, even weirder that her ex husband was stood listening to every word. "Err yeah it’s in the bedroom" Summer ran off into the bedroom leaving the adults feeling sheepish. Toadie didn't know what to say ...so opted for a silly response "your welcome to come Max". Max smiled "no its ok, I've been to a Scully wedding, I'm happy to come back next week and take Summer out if that’s ok?" Steph glared at Toadie who looked apologetic "yeah sure that’s great max, see you then. Max hollered through the house "Summer I'm going" Summer came out in a white gown and flowers in her hair "what do you think" Max smiled and hugged his daughter "I think you look beautiful, but it better be a while before I see you in a white gown again" Summer laughed and looked at Steph "it fits great" Steph was bouncing on the balls of her feet "yeah well I think you should change, don’t want to dirty it now do ya" Summer nodded "see you next week dad" Max smiled and waved at her as she walked off back into the house. Toadie couldn't take the atmosphere any longer "I'm just gonna....well....go" he disappeared back into the house before Steph had a chance to argue, she scowled in disagreement. Max smiled at Steph she felt her stomach churn "look, I'm sorry it is so soon, I don’t know what to say" Max just took her hand and kissed it "you look radiant, I want you to be happy and if that is with ..Him...well then so be it, I wish I could have made you happy but... I'm ok with that now" Steph smiled at him "thanks Max" Max turned to walk off and waved as he walked down the path. Steph watched him walk off and felt a pang she hadn't felt in a long time.

so des Steph still have lingering feelings for Max and are they heightened by his maturity which Toadie currently is not showing?
