Strife in the fast lane
Katya Kinski is horrified this week, when nasty new arrival Guy Sykes blackmails her with evidence of illegal activities she’s been involved with in the past. And under Guy’s pressure, the distraught nurse is forced to resume her former life of crime!
“The history between Katya and Guy is blurry, but it’s fair to say that they used to get up to no good together,” sighs Dichen Lachman, who plays Katya.
“Guy has always had a lot of power over her, and is very violent and threatening. So when he tracks her down in Ramsay Street, Katya’s very scared.”
And her concern is understandable, since Guy happens to be in possession of a DVD which features incriminating footage of her – and his asking price for the disc is several thousand pounds.
“Katya fears she’ll end up in jail if the police get hold of the DVD, so she has no option but to bow to Guy’s demands,” Dichen explains. “He knows from the old days that Katya’s very good at stealing cars, and suggests she sell them on as a way for her to make money quickly.
He basically uses her as a workhorse, and Katya has no choice but to go along with it.”
And despite having built a respectable new life in Erinsborough, Katya discovers that returning to her old ways isn’t as difficult as she expects…
“She manages to get away with stealing a luxury car, and rather than feels ashamed, katya actually enjoys the rush of it all,” reveals Dichen.
“It’s also a love-hate thing. She knows she shouldn’t feels good, but she can’t help it. It’s also easy money. Of course, it won’t be long before things start to go wrong in a big way. Guy’s presence can only lead to a lot more trouble!”
